South Palm Beach, FL (October 26, 2013) – Boca D-Riskers made strides in the fight against breast cancer, joining more than 11,000 others in the community, for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The team of 35 D-Riskers, family, and friends was led by team captains Bobbie Castoro and Christine Carcel.
The South Palm Beach Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is an annual 5k walk around Mizner Park Amphitheater. The event kicked off at 8:30 a.m. and provided live entertainment and a special area for breast cancer survivors.
“It gave me goose bumps to turn on the bridge and see the sea of pink coming toward me. How awesome that there is so much support for such a devastating disease”, stated Christine Carcel.
The Boca Digital Risk team exceeded their fundraising goal of $1,200 and raised over $1,800. The event itself raised more than $300,000 for the American Cancer Society, which will go towards research, education, and support for those fighting breast cancer.
“Seeing the tears of joy in our co-worker Robin, who is a survivor, made me realize that she is why I am walking. She is an individual person who had to fight against breast cancer”, commented Bobbie Castoro.
