On January 20, 2016, Digital Risk’s sponsored Virtual Enterprises International (VEI) partner, the J.P. Taravella High School Chapter, won first place at VEI’s first annual Business Plan Competition held at Nova Southeastern University! Digital Risk’s, Co-Founder & Managing Partner Jeff Taylor was invited to be the keynote speaker at the event to provide insight on his path and success in entrepreneurship.
For the competition, VEI chapters from across the state were tasked with creating a business plan for their “virtual” business. Teams of 5 – 7 students from each school prepared a presentation on their business for the judges, who consisted of local Florida community leaders and entrepreneurs. Each chapter was judged on their overall business plan, presentation, style and other various technicalities.
After each chapter presented, all attendees congregated back into the presentation room to hear the competition’s results. “You could feel the nerves in the air and the excitement in the building, as the judges began to announce the competition winners,” said Digital Risk’s Manager, Internal Communication Ryan Donelson. It was a proud moment for Digital Risk when the judges announced that our sponsored school, J.P. Taravella High School, took home first place!
Digital Risk has been supporting the VEI team and their business, Focal Point, Inc., at J.P. Taravella since its inception by providing mentoring and guidance. This team is the first of its kind at J.P. Taravella, as well as the first chapter Digital Risk has sponsored.
As the winners of the competition, the team will move on to VEI’s National Business Plan Competition, held in New York City on April 17, 2016. The national champions will be announced on April 19, 2016. Jeff Taylor, who also sits on the VEI Board of Directors, will also attend the competition to support the J.P. Taravella chapter.
Stay tuned as we update you on how the team does at Nationals.
